French Butter Pie Dough



INGREDIENTS (Note: to make the pie above, you will need 2 batches of this dough)


2 1/4 all purpose flour

2 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 stick unsalted butter, chilled

5-8 tablespoons ice water


DIRECTIONS:


  1. In a food processor, add flour, sugar and salt.

  2. Pulse to combine.

  3. Add chilled butter cut into cubes to the food processor flour mix.

  4. Pulse a few times to create a crumb texture.

  5. Add 5 tablespoons of ice water, pulse a few times. If you are able to squeeze the dough to form what looks like a uniform dough, your done adding water. If not, add a tablespoon spoon, pulse, and check the dough again. Continue doing this until you are able to press the mixture into a dough with your fingers.

  6. Turn mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and gather the dough to form a loose dough disc.

  7. Wrap in plastic film and chill for 20-30 minutes.

  8. Remove from fridge and you are ready to roll out the dough.
