Nothing But Blue Love

Blueberries have been praised for all the goodness they bring to our bodies. They are antioxidant power houses and packed with vitamin C. They also make a fabulous puree for our little babies.

I adore making blueberry puree for M not only because he gobbles it up and would like the bowl if he could, but because it’s one of those ingredients that can mask others. Oh, like spinach. Little M is not a big fan of spinach as a puree. However if I mix Spinach with something like blueberries or another veggie like carrots, he loves it. So if your little one is just not into a certain veggie, like spinach, try incorporating blueberries. You may be surprised at just how fast your baby eats his dinner!

Simple Blueberry Puree:

1/4 cup Blueberries (fresh or frozen...if you decide to use fresh, please wash them first)

1-2 tablespoons water

Place berries in your steamer and lightly steam for 5-10 minutes. Pour Blueberries and juice left from steaming into your blender and puree. If need be, add the water, but your puree should be quite smooth and silky already.

Creamy Blueberry Puree

3 Tablespoons Blueberry Puree

1-2 Tablespoons prepared baby oatmeal

1 tablespoon warm whole milk

Combine all ingredients. If necessary, add additional warm milk to smooth out puree.
